How to enable the editor option in Your Shutterstock portfolio?
Previous bookmarklet was cool, but this one SS SiteBoost is even better.
And what is this new bookmarklet doing?
Check it out fellow Shutterstocker… I am sure You know well how does Your gallery look like, and You know there is no such Pencil Icon (!?!?!)…
But YES it is there now, if You just install this new bookmarklet same way as the previous one!
You can edit now Your photos just as it should be allowed since the beginning. I could add there the Delete option too but…;) need to think about it.
This is a bit more code (about 2 days of work) and it’s really fresh, so if anything will go wrong just be patient and write me.
It is working for me in 100% and I am planning more great features.
For the moment those 2 bookmarklets are separated but in time i will probably join them, You can use both together at the same time, just for various tasks.
Installation of the bookmarklet 2 (it’s in version 0.01)

- simply grab this link (above) with Your mouse and move (drag and drop) it to Your browser’s Bookmarks Tab.

Ensure You have enabled the Bookmarks Tab first, and You see it!
Clicking the link here will cause no effect.
Then go to the gallery. Image Previews need to be disabled but I have put some code to check it for You. If it would fail anyway then just switch previews OFF by hand – but it should work well.
If You see Your gallery then just press the bookmark for… (click image):
If it’s not working – refresh page or clear the cache – read below.
And that’s it!
Advantages?
- saves Your time, now You can quick find and edit metadata and go back to most important jobs
- saves Yours and Shutterstock’s internet bandwidth usage
- just gives You more control over the portfolio
- no configuration, no login, no password needed (it uses Your browser authorized session)

Technical aspects for interested:
- pure, safe Javascript, typical as uses any site, Facebook, Twitter and so on (what is a bookmarklet?)
- it does nothing to Shutterstock site, servers, files – it works on Your computer, in Your browser and uses only best selected pieces of Shutterstock page for speedup the workflow. You can imagine it selects links You would click ten times and combines it to one (more or less;))
This is just a VIEW CHANGE.
- the difference to previous bookmarklet is – SS EDIT photo was short simple code, sitting entirely in the link, SS SiteBoost is partially stored on my site and Google site.
So partially it can autoupdate itself – but i will post here any update informations anyways.
Problems ?
If the bookmarklet does not work:
- clear Your browser’s cache (just temporary files – quick access in Firefox – CTRL+SHIFT+DEL)
- refresh Shutterstock page
- if all else fails restart Your browser – but it did not happened to me ever
- You can’t edit other people images so don’t click there! I will ad the user check option later.
- IMPORTANT: if SS will make some critical changes to their site code SS SiteBoost can stop working – then i will have to fix it, so be patient
- DISABLE does not work in browsers: Opera, Chrome – they do not generate previews. If You want to disable SS SiteBoost just refresh the page or go to another.
